Crow, 2 channel video, 2016
In a sublime landscape the mind and body metamorphose into analogies for natural phenomena. Conversely, the environment mirrors one’s nightmares, hallucinations, and psychological projections. A murder of crows is an emblem of a fragmented psyche and one’s tears are manifestations of the sea. The effect of this experience can be seen both as a scaling of the inflated self and, paradoxically, a perspectival expansion. For a moment, one’s emotions explode to meet the immensity of the landscape, and at the same time the self abates, moving toward nothingness.
Crow is scored with original music by Colleen Marie.
